Some people attribute the start of summer to warm days, flowers blooming, or Prince William's birthday (ie June 21st) but around here it is all about the first campfire. It has been a pretty cold spring for us but this past weekend we finally got together with some friends and sat around a campfire. The boys played chef (something about cooking meat they killed over open flames is incredibly fun to them - which is why I'm considering allowing campfire cooking at home) while the girls just sat and chatted.
This morning I woke with the smell of campfire smoke in my hair and a hole burned through my fleece from the embers. Ahhhh let the summer begin.
