Weekend Links

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.  We are headed down the mountains to the big city to spend some time with family (yay this guy and his girl are coming into town) and celebrate my Grandmother's life.  In the meantime here are some fun things that I have been enjoying this week:

My new (to me) favorite blogs

Easy, fun and coloful DIY jewelry

This site takes all of the guesswork out of finding treasures on Amazon and Etsy (how rad is this bottle opener!?)

French Connection now sells homewares (and they are beeeeautiful!)

A pretty little ring

This jacket

Few things make me laugh out loud, however these tales from the delivery room sure did

An (almost) fair weekend

I'm not quite sure how it happened but somehow I managed to convince the husband that staying at home and watching The Vow on Friday night was a better idea than socializing outside of the house.

Wherever those powers of persuasion came from is beyond me.

I did make it up to husband by going out for a glass of wine (because I was too embarrassed to order the "pink panties" cocktail) on Saturday night.

We're pretty good at compromising I guess, although strangely it feels like a win-win weekend for me.

P.S.  I don't like mushrooms but the popcorn tossed in truffle oil that the restaurant had out for munching on is about the most addicting thing ever!  One more reason I'm pushing for a popcorn maker for my birthday this year.

weekend!

Who else out there is excited about this weekend?  I mean the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo on the same day!?  Talk about a party (although wardrobe choice has me in quite a conundrum).

For us, this is the first weekend that we finally feel settled back in and can enjoy just having some free time around each other.  I for one have plans to get going on some crafty projects, figure out how I can possibly finish up everything left to do on my 30 before 30 list in just 5 short weeks, try out a little adventure in sewing that has me both terrified and totally excited, and of course enjoy the nearly neon shades of green and blue that are happening outside right now.  Oh yes, and there will some outdoor patio eating going on as well.

See ya Monday.

Moments that made me smile

Next week is already shaping up to be a doozy so tonight I am taking it easy going to the movies with my man to take my mind off of it all.  I think we are going to see Crazy, Stupid Love.  Have you seen it yet?

Oh and just for grins here are a couple of moments from my life this week that got me to smile:
  • The man that pulled up next to me in his pickup truck and said "Do you want some steak?" "What?" "Yeah I've got meat in the cooler in the bed of the truck that I am selling for a really good price, do you want some?"  "Um, no thank you - my freezer is full already"  (But next time I am in the market for raw meat sold out of a cooler in the back of a creeper's pick up truck I will definitely look you up) - haha, who thinks this is a good business idea?
  • The guy riding a bike while holding onto a second empty bike beside him and carrying a third bike on his back.  I didn't really think it was a good idea but was impressed by his skills as he rode past me - that is until I heard the CRASH!  Yep - I just knew I was right on that one.
  • Playing charades with one of my favorite 6 year olds - category was "people."  I proceeded to watch her reenact her entire life story starting with the death of her grandfather through her birth (something that looked like a flower blooming) and her toddler years (a bunny hopping).
  • The arrival of husband's new camouflage waterproof jacket.  He was so excited to show me how it worked that he spit on it.  Wow honey that really is amazing!
Life is funny, Colorado is pretty (that is the reason for the unrelated photo).

Friday Wrap Up: Moments with Children

This week was such a welcome change from the norm.   It was spent with some of my favorite kids doing all of the things that children love to do: wading in streams, riding bikes, swimming, getting dirty, eating sugar, playing games, making ice cream, having nurf gun wars, braiding hair, eating pizza and laughing!  It was such a joy to take a trip back to the days when life was carefree and losing a game of "Old Maid" was the only thing that induced tears.  What a precious treasure kids are in our lives!

Here are some things from around the web that caught me this week with kids on the mind:
  • These boys are hilarious and probably going to turn out to be uber talented (the hip shaking gets me every time!)
  • I love Sydney's shopping list for her soon-to-be-born little boy
  • Love this idea for a memory book when you are pregnant

Weekend Snapshots

This was definitely one of those perfect weekends where even though we drove over two hundred miles and didn't get to sleep in at all we had a great time.

Highlights included:
- Moonlight swimming
- Thrift store shopping
- Sophistocated picnic in my Grandmother's back yard for her 88th birthday
- Watching aforementioned Grandmother open her birthday gift of an iPad and laughing (good-naturedly) at her try to use it
- Laying on fresh cut grass and staring up through the trees while chatting with my cousins
- The best live baseball game I have ever been to - seriously, I paid attention . . . to the game!  Yeah, it was that good. {PS we lost :( }
- Ballpark food - need I say more
- Two fantastic lightening shows (from a distance)
- A dirt road and a sunset
- Wildflower madness

Ahhhh weekends how I do love thee!

7-11

Happy Slurpee Day!!  7-11.  Click.  Yep I knew you were smart :)  The fact of the matter is that Slurpee's make Mondays better no matter what the date so run out and get yourself one.

For those of you that didn't run off to 7-11 immediately here is how the weekend went for us.

Hubs and I went "window shopping" for houses this weekend {note: house window shopping does not equate to randomly peaking in people's windows like a creeper to see if we like their house, we in fact had a bonifide real estate agent with us}.  No purchases were made, thank goodness, but it is so much fun to dream of the day when we can have a place of our own.

Also, I got to hold not one but two babies under a year old and only one of them cried!  I think that means that I have about a 50% chance of being a good mother, could be worse.  All I know is that it thoroughly increased my current condition of baby fever.  I think I might be contagious too because just the other day the Mr. exclaimed how much he wanted kids so that he would have someone to "play with."  Hehe, so cute!  I LOVE this man!

Hmmm, I think that is all.  Ok now you can go have your slurpee and your 10 bonus points for reading to the end of this post.

Have a Beautiful Weekend!

I hope that you all have a very beautiful weekend.  I for one have intentions on wildflower hunting, pool lounging, ice cream eating, and absorbing as much possible time as I can with the man I love.

See you Monday
